No more are the days of choosing not to use Social Media for your business! Social Media gives your company the opportunity to grow your online search visibility, build relationships, communicate more effectively with customers and improve branding. An added benefit of Social Media is that it’s free to create profiles and pages. However writing strong content and keeping an active presence does require you to invest your time. Since time is money, you want to be sure you’re doing everything you can to get the most return from your Social efforts. This is why Social analytics are so important. Check out these free Social analytics tools that can help your pages and profiles succeed:

Facebook Insights
Facebook is the world’s largest Social Network and consumers find brand pages to be incredibly important. According to a Lab42 study, about 50 percent of consumers think a brand’s Facebook page is more useful than a brand’s Website. In addition, 82 percent of the study’s respondents said Facebook pages are a good place to interact with brands. But are you giving your Fans the content they want? Facebook Insights is an analytics tool within your brand’s Facebook page that becomes available when a brand page reaches 30 fans. Insights include a graph and the columns Date, Post, Reach, Engaged Users, Talking About This and Virality.

With Facebook Insights, you’ll be able to:
•View your posts, broken down into text only, links and images
•See the reach of your posts, including how many people saw it, what type of posts received the highest reach and how many people engaged in each of the highest reaching posts
•See how many people engaged with your content based on comments, likes, shares and click-thrus
•View how many people have created a “Story” from your posts, which includes when someone Likes, comments on, Shares a post, answers a question you post or responds to an event
•See the viral reach of your page’s posts

Pinterest Web Analytics
Since its launch in 2010, Pinterest has been growing at a rapid rate and has become one of the most popular Social Networks in the U.S. Many businesses have jumped on the Pinterest bandwagon because of its popularity and all of its marketing opportunities. But it wasn’t until earlier this year that Pinterest introduced its own analytics system. Pinterest Web Analytics are available for free to any company using Pinterest for business and with a verified Website. After verifying your Website, you will be able to find your Analytics under the drop down menu bar at the top right of your screen.

With Pinterest Web Analytics, you’ll be able to:
•See how many people have Pinned from your Website
•See how many people have seen your Pins
•See how many people visited your Website from Pinterest
•See your most Repinned, most clicked and most recent Pins so you know what’s most popular

If you’re just looking for a tool that gives you a quick snapshot of your Pinterest, Pinpuff can help. After entering your email and Pinterest username, Pinpuff generates measurements of your influence, reach, viral reach and assigns a score and value to your pins.

Follower Wonk
According to a Brandwatch report on brands using Twitter in 2012, about half of the brands monitored Tweeted 50 or more times per week. In addition, 75 percent of brands used Twitter to broadcast to and engage with their Twitter followers. Are your Tweets reaching the right audience at the right time of day? Follower Wonk may sound like a silly name, but it is an incredibly useful Twitter analytics tool from Moz. Unlike Facebook and Pinterest, Twitter doesn’t have an extensive free internal analytics tool. Follower Wonk provides the details and metrics that will help you monitor various aspects of your brand’s Twitter and followers.

With Follower Wonk, you’ll be able to:
•Search Twitter bios
•Compare your Social graph to competitors, followers and industry leaders
•Analyze your followers and the people who follow you
•View yours and your followers’ social authority
•Generate graphs and charts of follower counts, follower location, demographic information of followers, most active hours of followers and more

This chart from Follower Wonk shows E-Power Marketing's Twitter followers' most active hours.

Google Analytics Social
If you’re looking for an all-in-one Social Media analytics tool, Social Reports from Google Analytics can help. Measuring ROI of your Social efforts can be challenging, but the conversions aspect of Social Reports makes that difficult task much more manageable. Social Reports requires a little more time and effort to set up because, like Google Analytics, you need to install tracking code. Don’t let this scare you away. You won’t want to miss out on the benefits of Social Reports! If you need a little help, you can find out here how to get the most from your Social Reports.

With Social Reports, you’ll be able to:
•See conversion rates due to referrals from your Social Networks
•See engagement levels from your various Social Networks
•View which Social Networks are sending you the most traffic
•Find out which pages receive the most Social actions, including “Likes”, +1’s, etc.
