Google’s Shopping Insights is now in beta. Earlier this week, Google launched a beta of their new Shopping Insights tool, and it’s really cool! The Shopping Insights tool shows retailers search trends across time, cities, and devices. We can make decisions on where to target based off of popularity. Retailers who sell Fitbit trackers might want to target cities like New York and Chicago, but might want to stay away from Seattle. The Shopping Insights tool also lets you view multiple products to compare popularity, and if you press play on the bottom graph, you can see how the search trends have changed over time.

Shopping Trends

Remarketing Lists for Search Ads are now available for Shopping Campaigns. With the holiday season coming up, Google has broadened our remarketing capabilities to include shopping ads and local inventory ads. With mobile users spending 7% less time in mobile shopping sessions but making 64% more mobile purchases than in 2014, reengaging past website visitors is becoming increasingly important. Instagram’s Boomerang turns a series of photos into mini videos. Following the trend of sharing video content and life’s little moments, Instagram released a new app called Boomerang. Simply point and shoot, and the app creates a series of photos and stitches them together into a high-quality video that plays forwards and backwards. With brands entering into the Instagram playing field, this presents another opportunity to show the creative side of a brand.

Yahoo and Google join forces. Earlier this week, Yahoo announced that they’ve reached a three-year search deal with Google. Essentially, this allows Yahoo to pull Google’s search results and ads for various user queries into Yahoo’s own search results. The deal is still waiting on the US Department of Justice’s approval, and has to be approved by Europe and India. While Yahoo isn’t necessarily a big player in the search engine world, this is still a major deal that can have a pretty extensive impact for searchers.
Yahoo and Google Join Forces
“Reunited, and it feels so good. Well, we’ll see if that line from the classic song plays out for Yahoo, which has revealed it wants to be together with Google again in a deal for search results. The deal excludes Europe, almost certainly to avoid anti-trust issues there. It also will depend on US Department of Justice approval.”
